I can't decide if to take Gymnasticas along with Ballet and maybe in the future Yoga and Pilate

i have taken ballet since i was 5 and im now 15. i wouldn't recommend taking ballet and gymnastics at the same time. if you were to take ballet take it with either yoga or pilates. gymnastics and ballet dont go along very well. hope that helps. good luck =]

What do I do if I hurt my back at ballet?

For the dancers: I was doing an arabesque and i turned my head to look in the mirror and i felt something on the left side of my back towards the middle pull or something. It hurt to take breaths. It continued for a few days and went pretty much away. A week later it all of a sudden started hurting badly! It hurts to move around and stuff and breathe sometimes. I feel like there is something poking the back of my lung or something. I don't know if I should go to a doctor or chiropractor or my mom suggested a massage? But I don't know if it's anything serious? It's technically not on my spine, it's on the left middle part of my back.

no it isnt 1 or 2 more like 6 and above

a very high level

ur brother must be very talented at ballet
its rather odd for boys to do pointe nad if a boy actually doers pointe he has to have years of training, and 1st or 2nd grade is not a goood time for anyone, girls or boys to start pointe. it is not traditional for men to do pointe so i really don't know when a boy would start.
at my dance school,, its grade 6 that you start although sometimes they do a bit of pointe work at grade 5... if you REALLY good.
ur brother is on pointe?!? ok..... anyway! i started pointe when i was around 10 ish years old but i was younger than the rest of my class, i was at a high level.
Grades arent used in every method of ballet, Im assuming he studies Cechetti? And boys RARELY do pointe, only in troupes designated and even more rarely, for some added work at barre, but they dont perform it.

I don't know as we didn't see enough in the film such as her medical. Its not about how to dance its about how easy it would be for you to learn to dance. In the film she seems a little tall but apart from that who knows???
Well, considering she did almost no classical ballet in her audition- I think it would be unlikely. I think she would have done well at the audition for the Showgirls movie, however.

What do i need to know to do grade 2 ballet and not be left behind?

i am starting grade 2 balet on wedsday and i am 13. i know i will be with little kids but there is one older girl in the class is there anything i should learn i know all the posiyons and avant and deriere (cant spell) i can also do pirrouetts and kind of arabasques and a bit of barre work and can almost do the splits but what should i know and what can i exspect

As you know all this, you don't really have much to worry about. I'm on grade 6 and you only start turning in pirroutes then! It's just basic barre work and steps, if you look on ebay, you can buy dvd's that teach you I think..good luck! xx

Here's a great site that will tell you what you need to know and practice for grade 2:

hmm .. well i had 4 years experience in ballet .. and i got honours in my grade test ^_^ ... but some pointers that could gain you a great reputation is being graceful in the way you move.. dont stress your whole body into making that one position ... keep your eyes following through your hand until you reach the position ... show emotion in the way you move... keep your back straight! .. VERY IMPORTANT!!! .. and when i did ballet i was very flexible .. i could do splits .. so if you keep stretching you will do wonders =)

How and where do I attach the ribbons/elastic on ballet point shoes?

I bought some for my sister and would like to have the ribbons attached when i give them to her.

How and where do I attach the ribbons/elastic on ballet point shoes?sheet music

I took pointe for many years and I found that the best way is to attach the elastic from one side of the arch to the other to keep the middle from flopping if the ribbon becomes loose. The ribbon itself I like to attach about half an inch farther back from the elasitc almost at the point where the achilles heel rests in the shoe(all that means towards the back) So that the ribbon kind of slants up toward the ankle when she wraps them around her ankle. It's a much more aesthetically pleasing look to me. Or, you can attach the ribbon where I just said and then attach the elsatic inside of that so that the elastic is mostly hidden when she wraps her ribbons. The former look I use for my parctice shoes and the latter I like to use for performing to cover up that elastic. If you're still unsure, go to a dance shop in your area and ask them to attach the ribbon for you or show you how. However you may want to have your sis try them on and have them fitted to make sure that they're ideal for her feet before putting on the ribbons. otherwise, they may not take them back if you have to exchange them. Fit is EXTREMEY important for a dancer "en pointe", trust me. Good luck with all this and how sweet of you to buy such a nice gift for the dancer in your life!

How and where do I attach the ribbons/elastic on ballet point shoes?state theatre opera theater

to attach the elastic, you need to fold the heel down so it's fairly close to the arch and sew it on both sides( left/right). to attach the ribbons you need to sew the end of one ribbon a little higher up than the elastic. do the ribbons on either sides and always leave one en of each ribbn loose( so she can tie them).

What are good ways to get back into shape for ballet?

I am 5'5 16 and 210 lbs. I want to start dancing again, but I am not sure if my body right now can handle the stress. What are some good methods of exerice to help my body get back into the shape for dance ? We have a dance class at my school, but I can't enroll until next year b/c the class has already started. Is this enough time to train to get ready for dancing? Can I dance now? Is it wrong for over weight teens to dance ? Has there ever been over weight dancers?

What are good ways to get back into shape for ballet?plays

It's easier for a fit dancer to dance....but over weight or not its still 100% possible. I have a cousin who is over weight and has danced ballet tap and jazz since she was 3. She is now 21. She is an AMAZING dancer and I really look up to her for it. She even teaches lessons adults and kids and is a great choreographer, she's worked really hard to get where she is though. It's hard no matter who you are. She's trying to get in shape right now actually too. She walks every day and is careful about what she eats. My dance teacher says that while body builders are in shape, their muscles are really bulky and ballet dancers want tone muscles not bulky ones. Dancers are also very flexible and have a lot of strength in their arms, stomach, legs and ankles....so basically the whole body. I would suggest doing a cardi workout like walking or running around the block a few times. Its winter and its getting cold....so going up and down stairs also works well, so does a tredmill if you have one. Or you could just run in place...there's a lot of different cardio stuff you could do. Even jump rope. Then after a few minutes do some stretching. ten minutes at least a day should do. Be very careful not to pull anything! Drink a lot of water because it will give you energy and keep you hydrated. Don't eat any less then you do now, just eat healthier. So like it you want a snack instead of having chips have applesause or some carrots. continue to eat lunch and dinner and try to sneak in something (even a cereal bar on the way to school) in the morning.

heres a link with a good workout

What are good ways to get back into shape for ballet?opera ticket opera theater

well, first start watching what you eat, I'm not saying starve yourself, instead of milk and cookies, try a bagel and a banana. if you can't run to save your life, start walking, start with a mile, and move one after a week, after you feel strong enough, run half a mile, little by little you'll start improving. dedication and motivation will get you out of this one.
Get your booty in class as often as you can! Just make sure not to go on releve for the first week or so, then as you build up your muscle strenght you can releve little by little.

Okay if there are no other classes you can take till next year, get a pilates DVD or the Ballet Workout by NYC Ballet.

Lastly, yes you can dance, don't worry about your weigh, just enjoy it!
Weight is not as imprtant to dance as muscle and strength is. If you do some strength training or excercise videos (abdominals and such) i think you will find that getting in shape is much easier. Muscle strenth is key for ballet!

What do you think of when you hear the word 'ballet'?

Whenever I think of the word ballet, I think about grace, artistry, and passion. The movements of the dancers whenever they perform is just mesmerizing to watch. They have great flexibility and they also know the steps well. Basically, I think of a girl with her leg high above her head.

no need for fancy clothes, just wear something business smart (suit with a shirt without a tie for him) and a nice dress for you. don't need to go overboard though.
probobly dress up usually ballets are fancier
Since it's a matinee you can probably wear 'business casual' although I would avoid jeans. However, how often do you and you husband have the opportunity to get dressed up an spend and evening on the town? Take advantage have him throw on his suit, put on a nice dress, go to the Ballet, have nice dinner and look good.
something casual like black and white it will make it seem like you are high in society
I second the business casual attire....ballets are usually fancy, no matter the time of the day. Evening shows mean MORE fancy, but afternoon shows still require something near church attire or business casual. No tie for him, and maybe even no nylons for you, but you'll feel prettier, and more special, and like you're doing something more out of the ordinary than going to a movie. When you dress up you feel different, and will carry yourself in a more elegant way. If you wear jeans, you may feel under-dressed, and out of place, as if you didn't know any better, and it's your first time to the ballet.

(just for a mental picture)-Plus after the ballet, sometimes people get pictures with the performers, you wouldn't want to be in jeans standing next to a dancer in a $3,000 tutu and $80 custom made pointe shoes.

Maybe just wear a cute pair of black pants for yourself, and change into a more club appropriate shirt afterwards, and husband can remove his blazer and roll up his shirt sleeves? That will be a quick change for a more relaxed evening.
I would say nothing too formal but something nice. A casual suit for him. A nice spring-ish dress for you. I hope that I helped you out. Have a wonderful time at the Ballet.

How many pairs of tights should a male beginner in ballet keep on hand?

I am just starting out and was wondering how many pairs of tights I should keep for backup in case my tights rip or otherwise get damaged.

How many pairs of tights should a male beginner in ballet keep on hand?performing arts center

Few classes at the adult level, including beginners, require men to wear tights in class - only on stage. You can often wear a t-shirt and shorts. At the point when you know you're going to need them, then I agree that three sets is a safe number to have for backups.

In some settings (like Steps in Manhattan), even the women can get by with all sorts of dancewear, including tights with holes or no tights. Wait until you scope out the situation and/or consult with the teacher.

How many pairs of tights should a male beginner in ballet keep on hand?sunshine opera theater

Danskins are just about the best you can buy as far as the unitards go, but I think Mirella has the best tights. If you are serious about this I would go for at least three sets. Good luck, there are not very men who seem to want the association with Ballet any more. I want to put my Grandson in because I think it will enhance his balance, co-ordination and social skills. There is also a great deal of self-discipline and self-confidence to be gained from this activity.
hmm. maybe bout 2 or 3. I have 2, but nothings happened to mine yet. and good luck with ballet. hope u stick with it because i know some guys can tease u for doing ballet, if that happens, tell them atleast you "Can" dance.

hehe, sorry for the exageration of my answer.
I keep three sets at all times 1 to wear and 2 backups. A small sewing kit in your dance bag is handy sometimes along with some small safety pins....I've even seen small rips/holes patched (temporarily) with duct tape - no kidding.

Nothing wrong with male ballet dancers. I've found that people who have to throw the "gay" thing around are people having difficulty with their own sexuality. No worries. :-)
Just ignore them.
hey you were the one that asked the question....we just answered honestly and to the best of our knowledge.
I'm so sorry. I didn't mean you HAD to be cute. I don't even know you. But there has to be more to you than the things you mentioned in your previous question. Some women do like all of those things. But if they don't like you, it's either deeper than that or more shallow than that. Don't give up on love, though. It'll come one day! : )

Hey man. i answered your other question but I didn't call you gay.
I have heard of several guys taking ballet that was not gay. Nothing is up there!
Tell them!!!!
some people just look at your name and say "ballet dancer" then see ur a guy and automatically the stereo types roar into their stupid nieve little heads and they're mouths do the thinking. :) it's ok.. being able to dance better then most of us isnt a bad thing :)
I'm sorry. my tampons on the wrong way. I don't think your gay. Maybe your hot. or something. But keep looking you'll find her. Have an awesome excellent wonderful day. %26amp; good look finding her.

* I feel bad so i'll give you a star =]
There's nothing wrong or gay about being a ballet dancer! I see them at my daughter's ballet school and I know most of them are not gay and the girls love them. Hang in there, kid -- most of the people who talk that sh*t on here are dumb a**es!
I too am not gay. I don't do ballet, however. But I do have some hobbies that are "less than manly". I would say this to you- You could change who you are to suit the "rockies" of this world, but the idea of being happy that way is a farse.(if you don't know Rocky, thank the Gods. She is a selfish, self-imposed queen of the universe.)

Btw, you can expect to be violated around here for your claim of not being gay. Its what they like to call "equality".
I9 answered your question too and i didnt call yuo gay. Some people are just mean.
people are just really mean on here, just keep on dancing
I not mean and there are some mean people on here that just dont have a life. So dont worry about it I know your very athletic and that is a big turn on so keep doing what you love most of us dont get to do that.

Practice your splits. After you can do these very comfortable, run then, after a few steps, jump as high as u can and do as much of a split as you can, then do some type of "gracful" landing. I'm a dancer and I haven't done much ballet or jazz or anything like that. How can I do a good leap?ballet theater opera theater

practice a lot and you'll eventually get it

sorry i can't help you any more
u'll want 2 strech alot, but make sure not 2 pull n-e thing... then keep practicin :)
As a dancer of 14 years I get this question a lot. The best advice is to practice. However, I know that you don't want to hear that. First, make sure to stretch good. Stretching is the best way to make your leap better. Second, you need to make sure that when you are leaping you push into the floor in a bend before leaving the floor. This will allow you to go higher in the air and allowing you to make your leap longer. The third thing is to make sure that you point your toes and hold your body up straight. A good way to do this is to practice in front of a series of mirrors or in front of a full-length mirror. Remember that no one is perfect on their first try. Just keep working at it and eventually you will have a beautiful leap.
Take more ballet and develop the proper muscles and technique to do a proper leap. There are no shortcuts. Although your peers might be impressed, once you get into competition, judges would rather see a small leap done properly than a sloppy leap no matter how long or high. Lines, control, technique and balance are crucial.

These skills take years of practice to master. You can't do it overnight.
I am a hip hop dancer... and I just started ballet and jazz because my teacher told me to become competitive and the judges were amazed and I got enrolled in ballet and jazz so I had the same problem. Stretch a lot is what a lot of people are going to say and it does help but i fine if you stretch into splits and go farther everyday it will help a lot and then really after that you just need to practice. Hope that helps!
step one: practice! step two: on the website discount dance supply there are videos and DVDs to help you out with those exact things. to strengthen your legs do some squats and releves in the first and second positions and some grand plies. those are the best. if your talking grand jete, then practice you split and when you try it your leap do that split in the air. I hope this helps. good luck and happy dancing
stretch a LOT! if you can do your splits, your already on your way. if not, thats alright, but keep on stretching.

and basiclly, all of us dancers just have to practice. seriously, there isnt much to it but practice.

i would also say to work on your flexibility. it helps a lot.

and trust me if you practice you will get there! good luck
You mean a Grandegete. Take more classes. Strech.

DO you prefer split sole or full sole in a ballet slipper or any dance shoe.?

I prefer split sole because it is then easier to point your foot, sense in ppointing your foot you bend at the arch of your foot and a full sole would be in the way, where as in a split sole the sole is at you ball of the foot and the heel, leaving a piece of cloth at the arch for easier pointing.

A full sole though would be a good way to improve your pointing of your foot, since you have to use more pressure on a full sole, then when you switch to a split sole it'll be easier to point.

split sole- i have never seen a professional in a full sole. The shoe is more flexible in a split sole and and i have been told by all of my teachers that it is better to get.
split. they are much more flexible and easier to turn in. they also fit better and hug your feet. Bloch makes really good ones that are not just split but separate that are super comfy that you can look at here...

http://www.blochworld.com/shop/p-165-ela...
Split Sole
it is easier to point your feet in split sole, but for taking exams, you have to wear full sole.

but i would always go for the easier option of split sole
I prefer split sole, but I still use full soles sometimes. I actually asked basically the same question a while ago, and everyone told me to try split soles. I fell in love with them, having used full soles for 10+ years. I only use full soles because they make me work harder, like someone else already said. But, all in all, I prefer the split soles.
Where as a split sole allows you to point your foot more easily, I always think that beginners should start with a full sole because it helps to build strenght and flexibility of the foot because you have to work harder to point. After that split sole shoes are ok, but of course it all depends on personal preference.

I know they're a great company, though, and you should be very proud to get accepted!

Is it possible to stand on your toes with out ballet slippers????

Yes! But not without practicing. If you do it without warming up or practice them there is a big chance that you will REALLY hurt yourself. Go to a dance class to get lessons. I taught my self to stand enpointe (on your toes) when i was little. Just be careful!

Yeah, you don't need ballet slippers just to stand on your toes. That's like asking if you need pre made mix to bake a cake. It'll be harder but you can still do it.
yes, but it will hurt! Who the f**k wants to do that?
Yes. Not only does my son stand on them, but he walks on them! It drive me and his mother crazy but he swears it doesn't hurt.
Yes.
Yeah.you can.but who would want to do so.it hurts like heal.I you cant walk after that fuc..ng walk...........It hurts real bad............
No. You can not even stand on your toes in ballet slippers. You need pointe shoes. In order to be able to study pointe you need to have had study ballet for many, many years and your dance teacher will need to evaulate you to see if you are ready to study pointe. I hope that I helped you out.
It is possible to stand on your toes without pointe shoes, but it is really, REALLY painful because it squashes your toes, best not to try it....
If you put a lot of practice into it, anything is possible!!!!!!!
Yes but it would hurt a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've tried!
Well you can with Irish dance shoes, and I know some people who can walk on their toes, barefoot, on tile. It's crazy, i know, but it's true.
it would really hurt if you did but you can stand on your toes withoout ballet slippers
Yeah, of course it is. It is probably just a little bit more painful, though, and requires a great amount of skill to do it properly.
Yes... the less you weigh, the easier it is. Some strength, some balance, you can do it with bare feet. Remember to cut your toenails.
Yes I'm a professional.

lots of protein as a dancer your muscles are always changing depnding on your style of dance and progession. lots of protein it's easy for your body to use aslong as your active. smaller portions and more meals a daily if your serious you will fell more energized throughout the day and you will be able to dance the night away.

I want to start a diet to get fit for ballet, what should i eat??chinese theater opera theater

most likely you don't really need to lose weight but if you insist squats will help with your legs and thighs make sure to stretch a ton and eat healthy say lay off the soda and junk food that doesn't mean eat one small salad a day you should eat three well balanced meals and two healthy snacks a day. and drink lots and lots of water
eat a lot of meat. i dance too, and you need the protein for energy. but that dosen't mean eat a cheeseburger. also drink a ton of water, especially when your dancing. stretch a ton. if your not close to tears, your stretching hard enough. in any dance class, especially ballet, you are expected to be able to do all your splits. if you have any questions e-mail me at liveandshine@yahoo.com
Fish is always very good! Not battered...grilled.
dieting will make you fatter!

What does it mean when some one says (like a ballet teacher) that you have good technique? (or bad t

WHAT IS GOOD TECNIQUE AND WHAT IS BAD TECHNIQUE? Please :)

What does it mean when some one says (like a ballet teacher) that you have good technique? (or bad technique)?sunshine

Technique is the technical part of performing a particular dance style. It is the body of knowledge about positions, placement and how you transition from one move to another. As Ava said, it can be taught. It is the spelling and grammar of dance; there is a right way and wrong way to do it.

Rhythm, or having a sense of musicality, is not technique. A dancer can have impeccable technique, but have their counts totally off. One can acquire a sense of musicality with practice. But one can have rhythm along with sloppy technique.

And then there is sheer talent and performance quality that cannot be taught and which is pretty much inborn. This is the most important element in dancing and can even compensate for less-than-perfect technique (which contradicts what Ava said). This is the basis on which students are accepted to Juilliard and is the reason why an audience is drawn to watch dancers perform on stage.

What does it mean when some one says (like a ballet teacher) that you have good technique? (or bad technique)?star theater opera theater

Good technique is like pizza sauce.

If the sauce is bad on a pizza, there's no helping it, through the darn thing away and close the store. But if the crust is mediocre and the cheese is so-so, the pizza can be saved by good sauce. But then again, is the crust is burnt on the outside, raw on the inside and tastes like the stage slime they used on set from the last sci-fi sludge monster movie that came out, no sauce in the world is going to fix that pizza crust.

You see my analogy. If technique is your sauce, the dough his everything that makes a dancer a dancer, the poise, the grace, the flexibility, the supple movement. Technique is imperative, it means that you know where your limbs go, how to put them there and how to make the lines look pleasing. It involves proper extension and position and turnout. There is no set definition for technique because is encompasses every move you make in dance, so it is dance.

When they tell you that you have bad technique that's because you're probably starting out and your muscles don't know their way around the steps.

Beyond that, I can't really explain it. It can be learned if you don't have it. I can be lost if you don't use it. But defined, oh no, it's far too elusive for that.
Technique is the WAY you move to produce the desireable visual picture. I.e. how do you initiate your movement, what muscles do you use and when. Good (proper) technique will allow you to perform difficult elements, while with poor technique you'd probably lose your balance and fall somewhere along the way.
Technique is the basic fundamentals of dance. You may be taught patterns, but it is the technique by which you do them that makes them look good.

Technique is HOW you step, turn, hold your self, your frame with partner, and sometimes exactly where you step.

Are your toes pointed straight ahead (good) or turned in (bad). Are you heel leading when you should be toe leading a step? stomping across the floor when you should be gliding?
When your B teacher says that it is a compliment. Your cordination and the overall ppicture has a good balance. Your efforts are not wasted but is giving the corect output.

I am a 450 pound man who's interested in ballet...what kind of advice could you give me to get

Just start somewhere. Anywhere is a good start. Beginner classes, for example. You'll lose weight as you progress. You'll find good exersises that will facilitate that. Yeah, you will need to get all those extra pounds off of you.

I don't know what class you took, but it is strange that you were required to get your foot over the bar on the first lesson. Find lessons that are paced just right. Go with that. Flexibility improves with time if you work at it.

dont get started at all
Buy a ticket and go watch.
How tall are you? The most you can weight for males in ballet is 204 lbs (normally). You are well over that, so lose some weight. Go on healthy diet plans, no crash dieting. You could even see if they will let you take ballet, which burns a lot of calories per hour. Get a lot of exercise. Once you lose weight, take classes and get educated about ballet. If you aren't too old I'd say you have a fair chance at going pro, if you lose the weight and dedicate time. Good luck.

******

Well, how else are you going to get your leg ver the barre unless you practice! If you really want to take ballet, you have to be dedicated and driven. No quitters. Hard work and perseverance is a must, and no nonsense. But, again, good luck, I hope you reach your goal.
Go to the Daily Dancer website.

http://dailydancer.com/

He doesn't post daily anymore but his archives are a hoot. He'll show you how to move and groove and even lose weight.
DONT BE TURNED OFF BY YOUR WEIGHT no matter what people tell you if you want to take ballet lessons take them, find some instructors in your area that you like but you should be prepared that some if not all may discriminate against you because of your size if they even say something that hurts your feelings don't take lessons with them because that shows that they are really judgmental and mean people at heart find a teacher that will accept you into their heart and help you become a great ballet student. and some of the students may even be mean to you but don't worry about them because you may be the best ballet student in your class.I WISH YOU THE BEST
I'm not sure why you would be asking a question like this?
lose weight
Advice: don't look at yourself in the mirror whilest you don your Tu TU
IF you are serious, even 600 L is not matter, many people are less than 120 L, YET they never think about ballet. Good for you that considering to dance, just play music and move yourself around, open your hands and fly...

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

Prima Donna

probably Italian - prima donne - first lady or woman
Well a soloist in ballet usually a prinicpal dancer, but just because she is a soloist does not always mean she has to be a principal.

I would go with prima donna
Originally used in opera companies, "prima donna" is Italian for "first lady". The term was used to designate the leading female singer in the opera company, the person to whom the prime roles would be given. The prima donna was normally, but not necessarily, a soprano. The corresponding term for the male lead (almost always a tenor) is "primo uomo".

Legendarily, these "prima donnas" were often regarded as egotistical, unreasonable and irritable, with a rather high opinion of themselves, not shared by others. Although whether they are truly vainer or more hot-tempered than other singers (or than any other people in the opera houses) is highly debatable, nowadays the term often signifies a vain, obnoxious and temperamental person who, although irritating, cannot be done without.
A leading lady in opera can be a diva or a prima donna...the lead dancer in ballet can be called the prima ballerina...word for that person ...prig, snit, hoipolloi, peacock
Diva

Which is musicianese for controlling, conceited ******.

I'm going up on pointe for the first time in ballet?

any tips , exercises, secrets, that you would be willing to share with me? also what shoes should i get. i have a long narrow foot with a higher arch.

I'm going up on pointe for the first time in ballet?performing shows

Your teacher and the store should be recommending shoes. I'm also a big fan of Gaynor Mindens. They are more expensive, but last longer and are FAR more comfortable than the other cardboard based pointe shoes.

The best thing you can do for exercise is to continue taking ballet classes in regular shoes at least 3 hours a week, doing lots of releves and foot stretches at home, and constantly working on turnout and flexibility.

Good luck to you and congrats on going en pointe!

I'm going up on pointe for the first time in ballet?say yes opera theater

well i have a higher arch as well and i find that Bloch is a really good brand and you could also use Ouch pouches if your teacher let's you...they kinda help....
During the day when you know you are going to have to go on point do alot of feet rolls cuz it dosnt only put the pressure on your toes....
Be sure to get your pointe shoes professionally fitted so they support your feet well. Also, if your instructor will allow you, use "bunnies" for your toes to protect them. I also found that putting vaseline between your toes if your feet sweat helps to keep them from cracking and chafing.

The secret to dancing on pointe is not as much in your feet as it is your knees and legs. Do a lot of deep knee bends and stretches to get warmed up before the pointe work. Make sure you do a lot of work on the floor and at the barre before attempting dancing on pointe.

I have a long narrow foot with a higher arch also and I found that LaMendola shoes suited my feet well. Again I encourage you to go to a dance shoe specialist for a good fitting.

Enjoy yourself ballerina!
i had the exact same problem when I first went on pointe, I have long narrow feet too, and a very high arch. Since not many dancers have big feet you want to find a shoe that will make your feet look smaller, I suggest capezio glisse'

Some excercizes you can do to break in your shoes are crossing one leg in front of the other, and pushing on the arch of your foot.
be prepared: even if the shoes fit you perfectly it is still gonna hurt
The only shoe I've ever liked isGaynor Minden. I have a high arch and a really strong foot and I tend to break other shoes in 2-3 weeks. GM's last for 6-8 weeks (I'm talking about being on 5-6 days a week a couple hours a day) If you aren't using them quite that much they'd last even longer. Strengthen your ankles so you don't roll your foot at all. Use the big rubber bands - they're great. You can find them in a lot of stores or online or catologues like Discount Dancewear
i started point last year. so i've had some bad times on pointe caz i didn't know wat i was doing so i'll help caz i dont want u to make the same mastakes that i did. so... start with feet rolls before u do anything hard if u dont u could pull a muscle then it hurts to walk. also get shoes that fit u. dont get ones that r to big caz then they can fall off while ur on pointe. and u'll twist ur ankle. also dont do to much. make sure ur ready. if u go ur on pointe but u cant get all the way up or u cant saty still ur not ready. good luck and make sure u have ouch pads caz if u dont blisters

Never too late dear! Go for it! BAllet is the most wonderfull thing, and you can not be too old for it!
okay, don't listen to all those people who say "go for it" because if you do, you will hurt yourself. ballet requires so much muscle strength and unless you've danced for a long time, you won't have the strength to do it. trust me, i've been dancing since i was 3 years old. you have to practice every day to keep your legs flexible. you also have to have really strong abs to be able to turn and leap. i just don't see how you will be able to do all of those things. sure you will have fun, but you will not be very good at it! sorry if i sound a little mean, but i'm just telling the truth.
It's perfectly fine to begin dancing now, and you'll also be able to continue in college!

I think you should, it'll be a great stress reliever and be fun. Go ahead and do a drop in class if you faint then you can always quit. But even if you do I still think you should never give up, and keep trying have some self confidence, I'm sure you do already. :) :)
you won't be at the same level as people who have been dancing longer but if you find an adult beginners class sure!

pros are usually in their 20's and 30's , but even if ur not planning on being a prima ballerina , ballet is an awesom way to stay fit!

Yes, it can cause a tremendous amount of wear and tear on the joints, depending on what you are doing. You could also be suffering from an injury. Best bet for you would be to see a doctor who specializes in sports injuries and get an evaluation before you do permanent damage
Yes. I did gymnastics for 10 years and have been doing ballet for 15 years and it damages your joints, especially when en pointe and your ankles take a real beating.

I think it is normal, and once I stopped it got worse. Best of luck to you.
yes .. it defaintely takes a toll on your body.. i have done gymnastics for 8 years and im not allowed to do it anymore.. i have torn cartilidge in both of my hips.. just got surgery on one.. all ligaments in my ankles are stretched out... partially torn rotater cuff in my shoulder... my knees just grind now and they ache.. and i have 2 herniated discs in my back... this all happened within the last two years in high school gymnastics... the only injury in club gymnastics was when i hyper extended my elbow and fractured my ankle.. but i never realized it till after.. if you love the sport you tend to ignore the pain and work through it... you also become immune to pain.. its kinda bad!
probably, have a look at your technique and equipment to minimise the damage but there will always be a certian amount of injury if you constantly hammer your body.

What active players do you think are going to be first ballet H.O.F?

Ladainian,Peyton,Marvin,Strahan,Champ

What active players do you think are going to be first ballet H.O.F?say yes

LT, Peyton, Brady, Harrison, Merriman, Champ Bailey, Hutchinson

What active players do you think are going to be first ballet H.O.F?palace theatre opera theater

Ladanian Tomlinson for sure!
brady,manning,harrison, jr saeu,LT,shaun alexander,chris samuels,ogden,ocho cinco,palmer,maybe tj whosyourmama

alright im done i could go on for a week
Jason Taylor, Ray Lewis, Tom Brady, Brett Favre (he's the only qb who will join the HOF anytime soon, only other over the hill qbs with potential HOF careers are Trent Green and Steve McNair and neither of them are sure things.) You guys really made some bad picks though Merriman has yet to prove he's a consistent contender especially being a pass rushing linebacker. Tj Houshmanzadah will not ever make the hall of fame and isn't Hucthenson a gaurd do they ever make first ballet?
QB's= Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Tom Brady

RB's= LaDanian Tomlinson

WR's= Marvin Harrison,Isaac Bruce,Terrell Owens, Randy Moss

TE's= Tony Gonzalez

DEF= Jason Taylor, Ray Lewis, Michael Strahan, Warren Sapp

These are the players I think that if they retired today, have done enough to be a 1st ballot HOFer.

I know several people are bashing the Moss and Owens additions. Both WR's have over 10,000 rec yds and 100 td's over their career. The numbers are comparable to Harrison who is a sure fire HOFer. I know Harrison just does his job unlike TO and Moss, but both excel on the football field.
alot of players come to mind, but id have to go with manning, favre, strahan, harrison, tomlinson, martin (dont know if he retired yet) im sure people have others. what about sapp?
I have to laugh at some of these. Moss? T.O.? Dude those two will get lucky to get IN let alone NEVER first ballot. T.O. might deserve it(I will never agree Moss does) but the off the field antics will keep him from being first ballot. Moss has two problems. First is the obvious antics that involve on the field. The second problem will always be his I play when I want to attitude. As to LDT I don't care how much you love him I wouldn't put him on as first ballot yet, lack of playing time to establish it. Hutchinson won't go in as no lineman will go in as FIRST ballot. Oh and sorry Curtis Martin may get in but NOT First Ballot. Ray Lewis will always have the murder thing following him, so not first ballot.

OK I'll stop and go to the ones who I really think will be locked in as First Ballot

Brady, Peyton Manning, and if he hangs it up soon I think Farve will be(needs to stop dragging down his reputation outside GB though). I am really getting tired of Chad Johnson BUT if he has the stats to go with the selling himself then I think he can get the First Ballot because the media likes his antics for the most part(which he will also get in in part to counter the complaints about T.O. not getting in because his antics). I don't think there are very many that are locks for the FIRST BALLOT. I think too many are going more for HoF then First Ballot.
T.O., Randy Moss, Pacman, Mike Vick, Clinton Portis...... Oh wait, you said HOF as in Hall of Fame. I thought you said DOC as in Dept of Corrections.
i believe Reggie Bush from the Saints and ladainan Tomilson from tht chargers or Randy Moss from the Patriots.
Manning, and Brady for sure.

LDTomlinson for sure.

Marvin Harrison, likely.

Randy Moss... lol. that was a joke. no way. What has he ever done, but make each team he's on worse. Hall of Shame maybe.

Linemen.. heck, I don't know any linemen.

Some of the young guys to watch for are... Troy Polamalu, Philip Rivers.
Tom Brady, Brett Favre, T.O., Randy Moss,
Manning

Brady

Favre

Marvin Harrison

LT

People like Alexander, T.O., Hines Ward, Moss, Edge, would need a couple of two more great years to make it on the first ballot.

Junior Seau

Zach Thomas

Ray Lewis

Warren Sapp

Jason Taylor

Derrick Brooks

Michael Strahan

Champ Bailey

John Lynch

Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor will definitely make it, but probably they need one more good season to make it on their first ballot.
Some of these answers are ridiculous. Moss?? Reggie Bush?? The guy hasn't even played 2 years - he could suffer a career ending injury in week 1 for all we know. I like sgolds argument that people are overreaching for first ballot guys. Manning, Favre, Brady are locks for the first ballot. I can't believe only one person has mentioned Tony Gonzalez. When he retires he'll be the best TE to ever play the game. I think that 1st ballot worthy. Larry Allen and Jonathan Ogden imo are borderline 1st ballot guys. On the defensive side of the ball Zack Thomas and Junior Seau are the only guys I see as 1st ballot material. Defense doesn't get as much love from the HOF voters as the offesnive side does, so its harder for them to get in 1st ballot.
T O M B R A D Y!!!
ray lewis, marvin harrison, tony gonzales, brett favre
Joe Horn, Peyton Mannning
To many to name.
Peyton will be first ballot not ballet
I think that it would be L.T.,Tom Brady,Peyton Manning,Ray Lewis, and Marvin Harrison, %26amp;Joseph Addai that are going 1st ballet H.O.F
QB- Peyton Manning, Tom Brady,Brett Farve

RB- Marshall Faulk, LT, Curtis Martin, Fred Taylor

OL- Jonathon Ogden, Walter Jones, Larry Allen,Orland Pace

TE Tony Gonzales, Antionio Gates

WR Marvin Harrison, Issac Bruce, Steve Smith

DE Jason Taylor,Micheal Strahand, Julius Peppers

DT Sam Adams, Warren Saap

LB Brian Urlacker, Ray Lewis(overrated), Zack Thomas, AJ Hawk, Derrek Brooks

DB Champ Baily,John Lynch, Rondi Barber
Brett Favre, Ladanian Tomlinson, Curtis Martin (he still hasn't retired), Champ Bailey, Ray Lewis, Junior Seau, Jason Taylor...Marvin Harrison, Peyton Manning,
bret farve, payton manning, tom brady, LT, marvin harrison,

donaven mcnab, ray lewis,
Ray Lewis, Champ Bailey, Peyton Manning, Ladainian Tomlinson, Michael Strahan, Warren Sapp, Marvin Harrison, Chad Johnson, Ed Reed, Lorenzo Neal, Mike Alstott, Julius Peppers, Walter Jones, Johnathon Ogden, Steve Hutchinson, Randy Moss, Tom Brady, Brett Farve, probably forgetting some.
marvin harrison defanitly
LT, Peyton, and Tom Brady would be my top 3 picks.
I agree with most I saw, but one not mentioned is Willie Roaf. He was the best at his position for over a decade. No question first ballet HOF.

Reggiebush-16 is crazy, he might as well go ahead and make Vince Young, Joseph Addia, Maurice Jones-Drew considering he had more than 700 more yards than Reggie Bush. I am a life long Saints fan, but Bush was not even the most important rooking on the Saints team this year. That would be Marcus Colston. The bottom line is you don't make the HOF for one pretty good year, its for a career. Maybe one day, but not now Nostradamus.

I also believe that Ray Lewis is a FBHOFer, yes he does have a questionable off the field past, but most would consider him the life blood of a great defense that has maintained a high level of performance for a considerable period of time. He also has a few defensive player of the year awards and a Superbowl MVP.

I know that he is not an "active" player but his waiting period (5 years). is not up. I am talking about a 100% definite FBHOF and that is "Prime Time" Deion Sanders.

I really need to get this off my chest after reading some of the "Answers". Anyone who thinks that Brett Favre isn't a FBHOFer is just wrong. His numbers are there and he has the streak. He also has 3 mvp's-the one and only- he has a Superbowl ring, and loved by most.

Who is the artist known as the prima ballerina and studied ballet in Russia?

There were only two prime ballerine assolute in Imperial Russia 鈥?Pierina Legnani and Mathilde Kschessinska 鈥?and two prime ballerine assolute in Soviet Russia 鈥?Galina Ulanova and Maya Plisetskaya. In Cuba, the only prima ballerina assoluta, a title she still holds, was Alicia Alonso. In modern day England only one ballerina attained such status - Margot Fonteyn - a rank that she still holds, even in death. Cynthia Gregory holds the distinction in the United States of being its prima ballerina assoluta.

I'm 16 year old guy and I want to do ballet. Is it late for me to learn how to do those jumps a

I have a year of dance experience and I am very flexible (i.e do splits, etc.) However, I have a weak upper body strength.

and yeah, how long does it usually take to learn those jumps and pirouettes?

I'm 16 year old guy and I want to do ballet. Is it late for me to learn how to do those jumps and pirouttes??sheet music

Well actually its not to late .I started ballet when I was 12 and now I am getting 16 and I am still dancing with so much heart i just love it.The jumps are not so hard to learn and also the pirouettes are not so hard ,and they usally take about one year to learn them very precis(means very clean). You also need to be very strong to not drop any of the girls you might lift up.'g'.But if you want to do all that the main priority is to have discipline.Good luck with all that.

I'm 16 year old guy and I want to do ballet. Is it late for me to learn how to do those jumps and pirouttes??state theatre opera theater

It's never too late to dance. Go to a studio and sign up for ballet classes. Good Luck!
its never too late to learn anything and for the time it'll take it depends on you and how much you practise.

Good luck
It isn't too late to do anything, mate. It'll just take you a bit longer, as your bones have gotten "harder and more stiff" (No innuendo intended) as you've grown older.
you may not become a pro at this age, but kudos to you for wanting to try something new. it's never to late to learn!
I think that if your seriuos and work really hard you might be able to .It is a late start so that means twice the hard work for you can you be that dedicated ? If not I would try something else but you could still dance.
It all depends on you. I'm almost 17, and I was a dancer for 14 years and if I didn't have a driven mentality, I wouldn't have succeeded at anything. I don't even know you and I'm totally proud of you for taking up dance. Guys are so much fun to dance with!!!!! When I competed, I had a lot of guy dance partners and it made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. The jumps and pirouettes are really easy if you want it bad enough. It just takes time, patience, and practice. Good luck!!!!!
Better do it now that you are 16 than wait any later. It can help tremendously if you like volleyball.
it isn't to late, a guy joined our dance company about two years ago and he only had one year of dance experiance and was around your age...he has improved so much and is now very good. i would say give it a try..you dont have anything to lose. just work really hard and DONT GIVE UP.
Never too late to start. Don't worry about the upper body...that will come with age and practice. Hard to say about how long it will take you to learn things. Just remember, jumps are fine, but turns are like gold in the ballet world. Practice you turns tours, and fuettes all the time.
16 is actually an average age for guys to start ballet and still make it as a professional ballet dancer. But from here on in, you must really train intensively in order to get really good. I hope you are studying ballet at the very best studio you can find.
It's great that you want to start something new, but don't wait any longer, especially if you think you will want to have a career in ballet. There is so much to learn and to practice, so if you have the time I would say go for it! But if not I wouldn't do it, and I'd try to find something else to persue. Also learning pirouettes and leaps take an incredible amount of practice! It took me about 3 years to get a perfect split in the air, and about the same to do 2-3 spins in a row. Another thing that might be challenging is learning all of the steps and names for all of them... if this is really what you should be doing in your life, you'll just have that feeling...so I'd say go for it!! Good Luck!
It's not too late! There's a new guy at my dance studio and he's 17, just starting to dance, with only 2 previous years of experience. He is amazing! I'm sure you can do it. Good luck!
It's never too late to learn. Having a good instructor will also help this process. Lifting weights for upper body strength and learning how to partner will really help your upper body. As far as jumps and pirouettes, it's a case of learning how to use all the correct muscles. Keep going to class every day and before you know it, multiple pirouettes and big jumps with battu will be a piece of cake.
i have a better idea how about u go killyourself

Any tips on what to buy clothes/shoes wise when starting ballet?

I've been told that leotards aren't necessary when first starting.

Any tips on what to buy clothes/shoes wise when starting ballet?plays

Questions about what to wear should really be addressed by the studio you're taking lessons in. It will differ depending on where you take class.

Usually, it involves tights and leotard (but not necessarily immediately, on lesson 1). Some studios usually are a little more slack when it comes to adults or total beginners for a little while.

The reason for the uniform is actually reasonnable (so that everyone has the same 'look' and colours/fabrics or layers do not detract from the 'line'... So basically so that the teacher can tell whether your knees are stretched or not, and whether your body, arms and legs are in the correct position).

Shoes (soft, technique ballet shoes) are a must from day 1. They're the most adapted pair of shoes you can buy to practice ballet, as they fit really your foot like socks, but at the same time, do not slide like socks would, or do not grip like gym shoes would. They're just ideal, so worth the expense (obviously, if it's your first class, you may get away with not buying them straight away again, but soon it will be necessary -from class 2 or 3 usually).

Convertible tights are those with a hole in the sole, so that they can be pulled down (like normal tights) or pulled across the foot to convert them into leggings/tights (stopped at the ankle). They're good if you don't like the full tights effect on your feet, or if for eg, you do jazz/ballet one straight after the other, and don't want to change tights in-between classes. They're an added expense that beginners don't really need. 'Normal' tights are cheaper, so I'd go for that if you begin ballet.

Any tips on what to buy clothes/shoes wise when starting ballet?opera ticket opera theater

leotards are good but you can also do tights w/ a skirt and tucked in shirt ballet slippers are good to

If you are just starting, DON'T BUY POINTE SHOES!

it takes years of practice to get up on pointe
Maybe where you dance is different, but I would buy a leotard and tights if you're starting. Also bobby pins for a bun, and of course ballet shoes =). I hope that helps!
You will need a black leotard, ballet pink tights, and ballet slippers (pink). Those are the basics. Depending on where you take you can branch out from there. Go to www.discountdance.com and pick stuff out. My favorite shoe brand is the leather Capezio as opposed to the canvas ballet shoe. With shoes always go for the leather split sole.Danskin leotards are usually good. And tights I really like the Capezio convertable body tights. If you get body tights by extra clears straps because they tend to break.
Well, it depends on the studio. Check with the studio and ask what their dress code is. Even if it supposedly isn't necessary, I would still buy a leotard of their "uniform color," pink tights (preferably "convertible" tights, which means they have a hole on the bottom like this: http://www.thedancersshop.co.uk/acatalog... so you can roll them up to let your feet air out after dance. I wear convertible tights becuase I have to wear spacers when I go en pointe).

You will also need bobby pins (of your color hair), hair net (also the color of your hair), elastic bands (also the color of your hair, a scrunchie (optional, but most people wear one. It looks better if it matches your leotard color, and make sure it fits well, won't fall off, and there are no dangling things), and hairspray (maybe?) to make a bun for ballet.

Also, get FLAT shoes, either canvas or leather. Go to your local dance store to get all these items. They should be able to help you. :]]]

Hope this helps! I'm glad you're expressing an interest in ballet!
I know how you feel with not knowing any of the terminology so I am going to make this as simple as possible for you. To start out you'll want to wear a leotard, tights, and ballet slippers. You want simple things to begin until you know how flexible they are such as strappy leotards or footless tights, etc.

For the leotard, you'll want to wear a black one to your first class because that is what almost all ballet schools require! You'll want one for the spring/summer and one for fall/winter. Try:

http://www.revolutiondance.com/leotards....

You should get one of the "Tank: black" and one "Long Sleeve Scoop Neck: black".

For the tights, you want to start with two pairs of tights. Generally, all ballet schools start with either pink convertables (which have a hole in the bottom so you can keep your foot in the tights of slip your foot through the hole to make them footless if needed) or black stirrups. Try:

http://www.revolutiondance.com/tights.ht...

You will want to get one "Convertable: classic pink" and one "Stirrup: black".

Now for the ballet shoes. To start you will want to get simple split sole ballet shoes. These are what all schools will require unless you are under the age of 4 (which I doubt). Split sole means that there are two parts to the sole and a cloth or leather part in the middle rather than a full sole at the bottom. Try:

http://www.revolutiondance.com/ballet.ht...

You can get the "Premium Split-sole Ballet: classic pink". They should be perfect.

Now for the extra things for ballet that are optional. Try:

http://www.revolutiondance.com/apparel.h...

You'll want to get for ballet the "Shorts: black" and the "Wrap Skirt: pink or black".

I work for the New Jersey Ballet as one of the teachers so I know what you will need. I hope this has helped you and feel free to ask anymore questions about what to wear to another class if you are taking another type of class or if you have any questions about anything in your ballet class. Good luck and I hope I have helped!
leotards are neccessary, at all the studios i've ever heard of anyways. pink tights; convertable tights are footed tights with a hole on the bottom so you can 'convert' them to footless. you will also need ballet slippers, i would recomend starting with full soles DO NOT BUY POINTE SHOES..those are for experienced ballerinas. you will also need hairties, hair nets, bobby pins, v-shaped bobby pins, hair clips. some people like to wear skirts and legwarmers.
a plain tee shirt , tights a tu-tu and ballet shoes probably x

I'm 17 and well its been my dream to do Ballet. Is it a lost cause for me since I'm so old

I'm also thick.

I'm 5'7 and weigh 160.

I'm 17 and well its been my dream to do Ballet. Is it a lost cause for me since I'm so old or can I go for it?ms stress

you can definitely start taking ballet classes at 17! the big question is -- do you want to do it for enjoyment or to become a professional?

if it's just for fun, then check out broadway dance center on 57th street in manhattan. they have beginner ballet classes and enough teachers that you can decide which class you like best. there are tons of dance schools in ny -- the yellow pages is a great place to start and then look each school up on the internet. classes range in price from $18 - $20 for a 1 1/2 hour lesson.

if you plan to become a professional, you need to get into a full fledge dance school. if you've had at least 3 years of training, you should audition at alvin ailey for their semester long dance program. if you get accepted, you'll be required to take 3 classes a day, 5 days a week and yes, you get graded. best thing is that you'll get training from some of the top teachers in the industry for a very low price. they'll hold auditions for their summer program sometime in the spring.

start now!! it's really important that you take 1 to 2 classes a day if you want to be a professional. after 1 year of intensive dance training and classes, start taking classes on pointe.

you're height is perfect and your weight will drop off quickly! if you want anymore advice, write me at my email address at fairydancer2003@yahoo

you are never to old to do what you want and it doesn't even matter if you are good at it or not as long as you enjoy doing it

you are not too old. They should have classes in your area, google it. Also you will loose weight once you start getting into it ^_^ good luck

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=na...
Girl you go for it!! But take it slow since you are a beginner. Work your way up. It's very hard but if it's something you are passionate about, well then nothing can stop you.
i don't think it matters ifyou're "thick" or whatever. if you havea dream go for it thats what i am told all the time. if you don't try ballet then you might end up regretting it later on in life. so if i were you i would go for it, your age shouldn't hold you back and besides you're only 17! you'restill young, its not like your 40 or something.
Dear, you are very young with your whole life ahead of you, if ballet is what you want to do, then by all means "do it". And far as being a thick girl, so what, I'm sure you would lose plenty of weight doing ballet, and who knows, you could make the big time, at your age anything is possible. The main thing is that you love what you are doing and it makes you happy!
oh no non follow your dreams your never too old or young to do somthing
Who gives a damn! Who cares if your 17 or thick that should'nt matter, if you really want to do something i say go for it no matter age, race, shape,or size.

god that sounded really fake. o'well you get the idea
Old? Girl you might live to be 85 or 90, you are far from old. And if you don't try it, then you will spend the next 70 years or so wondering what might have been if you did.
I really dont know much about ballet BUT if it is your dream to do Ballet by all means go for it!!! Dont get discuraged if ppl tell you otherwise! Remember a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt "You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do." Go For IT!!!!!
Go for it!

You are never to old! I've done ballet all of my life, so if you need any other help, I'll be here!!!!!! Have fun and follow your dream.
i think you should go for it no dreams are done for.
do it!! a lot of people start late. even i started late. i'm 19 and i just started like 2 weeks ago. who cares if you're 5'7" and 160 lbs? the whole point of ballet is to get you in shape so you'll be ripped before you know it lol. :)
go for it, girl! you are not thick, you are perfectly fine the way you are. if you have a dream, then act on it!

good luck!
I'm 17 and weigh more than you and I'm gonna start ballet this summer and I'm SOOO excited..

Just don't worry about, if your passionate about and really want to do it, don't let anything stop you!

Good Luck!
go for it!!!

you may not be able to be a professional but you can still do it for fun :]

good luckk!!!!!!

go for it, its soooooooooooooooo wonderful

well you have to be in ballet for a few years at least to build up the muscles in your ankles so you dont hurt yourself! good luck, god bless!

How do you wear toe shoes you know the one in ballet???musicals opera theater

lots and lots of practice and years of building up muscle!!
Like everyone said, you need lots of ballet practice before you can wear toe shoes, also known as pointe shoes. You need to build the muscles in your legs and ankles or you will hurt yourself badly while on pointe shoes.

The way I wear them is by putting what is called ouch pouches on my feet so they won't hurt so much while I am on my toes(it is required in my studio). Then you slip on the pointe shoes and tie the ribbions around your ankle one or two times before double knotting and tucking the extra ribbions in. Don't wrap the ribbions too high up.
if u were in ballet u would know how. DONT BUY THEM....unless u wanna end up in the ER or something. :)

Dont buy. if u dont even know how to put them on...then yeah u wont know how to get up and yeah.
when u wear them your feet are completely pointed and it doesnt realy hurt unless the shoes are the worng size:))
all the other answers were how to dance in pointe but you just put them on like a normal shoe and then when you stand on them you're toes does not curl up or anything there still in the same position.
Any reputable dance store will not sell you a pair of pointe shoes unless you are already a ballet dancer and if you are old enough. Trust me, they will know during the fitting process if you don't know what you're doing-it's dangerous. Take ballet classes and just go from there :)
