How long does it usually take to go on pointe in ballet?

I'm 13 and am planning on starting. I really want to catch up with the girls my age who have been doing it forever.

it really depends on the studio but the general rule is about age 12 or 13. but you have to of danced for a long time before that. if you have never danced then do not count on pointe shoes for another 3 to 4 years and intense training. i personally went on at 10 but i danced 6 hours of ballet a week from the age of 8 so i kinda had an upperhand...

if u want them just focus on doing your best in your flat shoes and practicing a lot. do not feel discouraged because you will get your shoes soon enough. remember that pointe is not just pretty shoes. it requires A LOT of strength and if u just decide to put on some toe shoes u could break an ankle.

GOOD LUCK!

It depends on the school. At almost all schools though, you have to dance for at least a couple years before you go on pointe or your muscles and feet will not be ready for it- (injuries and bad dancing.) good luck and hope I helped!
To be ready for pointe class you must have proper training from a professional. Age and bone maturity also come into play. If a child is allowed to go en pointe too soon damage to the skeletal system may occur. Its alright to be eager. If your teacher feels you are ready and your parents feel you are ready then go ahead. I have seen dancers with horrible disfigured feet. If you are planning to be a professional dancer take your time. Learn the techniques. The dance remains the same whether you are en pointe or not. Surely it is beautiful to watch the ballerinas on pointe, but technique is harder to learn than pointe. The 13 year olds have not been doing it forever.....are they good dancers or are they simply en pointe? Technique matters more.
how many years have you been dancing. email me back and ill tell you
its going to be really hard for you to catch up. i'm 13 also but it took me a long time to be on pointe. it might be different for u though. everyone develops differently. it depends on ur ankles and on if you're ready or not.
it depends on the studio and how good you are. Normally if u start little around 10-13 but for you mabey a year in ballet a year in pre point then point.
I went on pointe when I was 13 and I had done 9 years of ballet.

If you work extremely hard you might be able to go on pointe when your 15-16.
